The Refrigeration Process
1. Utilizing electricity as its energy source, the refrigerant circulates through a sealed network of refrigeration pipes connecting the indoor unit to the outdoor unit.
2. A motorized fan draws warm air from within your home into the duct system.
3. The refrigerant is transferred from the external compressor coil to the internal evaporator coil, where it takes in heat from the indoor air.
4. This cooled air is then channeled through connected ducts to vents scattered throughout the house, effectively reducing the internal temperature.
5. The refrigeration process repeats, ensuring a reliable method to keep your space comfortably cool.
Components of a Central Air Conditioning System
A standard central air conditioning system typically consists of two main sections, known as a split system:
The outdoor unit – This part houses the condenser coil, compressor, electrical elements, and a fan to facilitate air circulation.
Evaporator coil – Generally positioned atop the gas furnace within the home, this component is essential for cooling.
Refrigerant – This fluid circulates through the lines running between the indoor and outdoor units, effectively transferring heat either in or out of the living space.
Ductwork – A structure made of metal, fiberboard, or flexible materials that functions as passageways to distribute conditioned air throughout different areas of your home.
A thermostat or control mechanism – This wall-mounted device tracks and regulates the flow of cooled air within your living environment.

Reduced noise levels – With the compressor unit situated outside, the sound generated during its operation is significantly less intrusive compared to that of window or portable air conditioning units.
